In a unexpected collaboration that challenges conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Revealed

According to the authorized statement, "A mysterious encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of forbidden rituals and terrifying transformations echo through the shadows." The storyline features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine cult.

The adventure centers on "bizarre trials and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Changes

The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Bonus Material

Players who accomplish the mission will receive an exclusive katana alongside multiple objects secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive implements
• Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Addition

This update also brings the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
