A two-month cruise through the Australian Coast has been cancelled following the tragic passing of an older female passenger who was stranded by the vessel on a remote tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the remote island with shipmates from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the group for a rest. The liner sailed away leaving her and came back after some time after the crew realised the lady was not present.

A major search operation located her body the next day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the incident, in coordination with police and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the cruise operator stated that passengers and personnel on the vessel were notified that the remainder of the journey had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and earlier technical problems".

Through an announcement, he further stated that guests would be provided a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to coordinate the homeward trips of the travelers via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also issued an updated communication, and said they had "issued a order to the Master" banning any further travelers from boarding the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the liner in the port city upon its return.

Chronology of Events

The vessel first departed the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was only 48 hours into the voyage at the time of the senior passenger's death. The remote island was the initial destination on the voyage.

Travelers on the vessel - who usually pay large sums of currency to take part in the cruise - were ferried there for a shore visit with the option of walking or underwater exploration.

Relatives Response

The offspring of the deceased woman said that her loved ones was "shocked and saddened that the liner left the island after an scheduled excursion without my mum".

Via her announcement, she characterized her mum as an "vigorous elderly person" who was a member of a walking club.

"According to scant facts we have been informed, it appears that there was a failure of attention and basic judgment," she stated.

She further stated that she wished the inquiry would be able to determine what "the operator should have done that might have saved Her life".

"According to reports from the investigators that it was a very hot period, and mother took sick on the hill climb," she stated.

"She was asked her to head down, alone. Then the vessel departed, seemingly without performing a passenger count.

"At some stage in that process, or not long after, mum succumbed, without company."

Organization Reaction

Via official communication, the Chief Executive confirmed that the organization was "working closely with officials to aid their examination".

He stated that the firm was "extremely apologetic that this has transpired" and had provided its total backing to the loved ones.

Shipping Sector Standards

The liner serves up to a hundred twenty guests with forty-six crew, according to corporate details. It was purpose-built to enter isolated locations of Australia's coastline and is fitted with "auxiliary vessels" - compact vessels used to take travelers on day excursions.

Occurrences like this are infrequent, and passenger vessels have procedures to record which travelers are embarking or getting off, according to maritime specialists.

"Sneaking ashore or [back] onboard simply isn't an option," an authority remarked.

Vessel operators take these processes with great importance and have "sophisticated systems in place to prevent such occurrences from occurring," the specialist further stated.

"This seems to be most likely a surprising - and unfortunate - isolated incident."
