Jones has disclosed that Salah apologised to the team after the fallout from his recent interview.

Salah was left out from a European match following voicing frustrations and claiming his connection to the head coach had broken down.

“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”

Arne Slot has previously declined to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.

Moving Forward

The player stated that the team's response remained positive. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.

The midfielder also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “I understand there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”

On-Field Response

The team's performance have been impressive in the games following the initial controversy. Jones believes the Salah's words were never meant to harm the team.

“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, performing and on a positive run.”
