The Blue Jays Claim World Series Showdown Against defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team reached their initial Fall Classic following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the final seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Behind by two runs, Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh frame, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, the city, our country," said Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an amazing experience."

George Springer has now slugged twenty-three playoff homers, making him third in history behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that situation except for Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Wilson commented "there's no question that it's going to sting" after his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but commended their performance this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we finished on the losing end of this one," he continued.

The Blue Jays won the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on Friday.
