The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The effort seeks to send support to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Featured Artists
The track was produced in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in September. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby includes a range of well-known figures from the industry. All took part in the benefit event, which managed to collect a significant sum for charitable causes.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of talented individuals. The track features a fusion of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These resources will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The context in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure described as destroyed or damaged.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is primarily raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from mid-December.
